The North East Autism Society (NE-AS) has been providing support for autistic individuals since its founding in 1980 by a group of parents dedicated to improving education for autistic children. They offer a variety of services, including educational institutions like Aycliffe and Thornhill Park Schools, and various support services for both children and adults. These services encompass residential care, short breaks, family support, and employment assistance, aimed at enhancing the lives of those with autism and their families.

In addition to educational services, NE-AS focuses on community support. They provide resources such as toddler groups and Autism Hubs across different regions. They also organize events and awareness campaigns, such as World Autism Acceptance Month, to promote acceptance and understanding of autism. Their work impacts over 7,000 neurodivergent individuals and their families weekly.

The organization encourages fundraising and donations to sustain its initiatives, emphasizing the positive difference these contributions make. They invite people to get involved, whether through donations, volunteering, or purchasing items from their shop. The society not only seeks to educate about autism but also to foster a supportive community for those affected by autism.
